Shahd grew up in London, and has always been passionate about making a positive difference in the lives of children. Being the eldest child of her family, she brings a unique perspective to her role as she witnessed firsthand the uniqueness of a child’s developmental journey and how exciting achieving each milestone is.

Throughout her education, Shahd went on to pursue her passion for healthcare and physical activity by completing her Kinesiology degree at Western University in 2021. During her time in undergraduate studies, she volunteered for an after-school health promotion program for elementary school children across the city and worked as a summer camp counsellor for multiple years. She then completed her Master’s of Science in Physical Therapy in 2023 at the University of Toronto where she completed an amazing paediatric placement working with children with acquired brain injuries.

Shahd has a genuine passion for creating a warm and engaging environment for kids to grow and explore their surroundings. She firmly believes in the power of play and creative therapies to make physiotherapy both enjoyable and effective. Her compassionate approach not only addresses physical challenges but also considers the emotional and social aspects of a child’s development.

She is thrilled to be a part of the Kids Physio Team as a Physiotherapy Resident, where she can continue helping little ones achieve big goals in meaningful and FUN ways.

In her spare time, Shahd enjoys reading, baking, hiking, trying out new food spots around the GTA, and spending quality time with friends and family.

Kasha Pyka is a bubbly and energetic Physiotherapist who grew up in the heart of Toronto (literally, she was raised a 10-minute walk from the CN Tower)! She always knew she wanted to work in pediatrics, and this all started in her 10-year role as a Camp Counsellor/Director. Within this position, Kasha worked with a vast group of young athletes and dancers creating educational and recreational activities for them. In addition to this, she also had the opportunity to help integrate children and youth with disabilities into camp activities through the Reach for the Rainbow Program.

Because of her passion and drive to work with children, Kasha curated her school-experiences at Queen’s University to revolve around pediatrics. Through her clinical internships, she was exposed to numerous clinics (including seating and neonatal follow-up clinics); as well gained valuable practical knowledge and skills treating children with: torticollis, plagiocephaly, cerebral palsy, developmental delay, and down syndrome.
